The toilet is a significant appliance in households around the world. Not only is it a necessity, but it becoming a major fashion fixture as well. Toilets come in a wide range of shapes, styles and colors. They are typically made of vitreous china and come in both one piece and two piece versions. A one piece includes the tank and the bowl which are molded together during the manufacturing process. The two piece version includes the tank and bowl which are separate pieces bolted together during installation.

Generally, toilets are installed through a floor mounted rough-in, but some models can also be wall mounted. Typically, toilets today use a new standard of 6 liters of water per flush. With today's advanced technology, certain toilets come with a dual flush mechanism that is able to flush either 3 or 6 liters, depending on how much is really needed. In addition, most toilets are available in a wide range of colors to match your décor. Extra features include built in fans, automatic bidets and different bowl sizes. Generally, the bowl of a toilet itself comes in two sizes, a standard or round rim. However, for additional length and comfort, you can also select a toilet with an elongated rim.

As with any plumbing project, if you decide to use an existing plumbing configuration, you will be saving your self a lot of money. For more advice on design elements and layout, it is recommended to speak with an expert.
