Murals are a wonderful way to bring animated, life like scenes to enhance your homes décor. They can be applied to walls, floors, furniture, countertops and other permanent surfaces. A mural uses paint to recreate scenes or objects on ordinary surfaces. They can be small or large, inside or outside, and cover entire walls or just parts of one. It is a detailed process that requires much preparation and planning.

Murals that are painted to create a realistic illusion are called Trompe L’oeil. This technique is commonly used in children’s rooms to create an exciting animation. By using creative techniques, Trompe L’oeil creates a larger effect than if a mural was covering an entire wall. Common designs include life like pillars, arches and windows painted on walls.

You have the choice of selecting a mural that has already been designed, or you can custom design your own mural. If you need help with your selection, there are huge libraries to reference murals and other art work. Also, a professional painter can help you in this process. If you already know what you want, custom murals allow you to use your own imagination and visually show a specialty painter the image that would like to have created. Special techniques can then be applied to your custom design to enhance its appearance.
